Canadian Fall Turnip & Apple Shredded Roast Chicken

This Thanksgiving Eve in Vancouver, the Geedel Vegetable Processor transforms holiday prep: effortlessly shred turnip and apple into uniform strands, use the salad spinner to dry rosemary, and whisk a maple glaze—all in 40 minutes. The golden, fragrant result will have your family declaring it your best holiday side yet.

Ingredients (Serves 4)  

400g chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on)  

1 turnip (peeled, ~200g)  

1 crisp apple (peeled and cored)  

½ onion  

2 garlic cloves (minced)  

Maple Glaze:  

2 tbsp maple syrup  

1 tbsp olive oil  

1 tsp light soy sauce  

¼ tsp dried rosemary  

¼ tsp salt  

A pinch of black pepper  

2 sprigs fresh rosemary (for garnish)

Instructions  

1. Shred the Turnip & Apple: Sweet, Crisp & Even  

Cut the turnip, apple, and onion into 3cm chunks. Load them into the Geedel Vegetable Processor and rotate five times. The turnip becomes mild, sweet white strands; the apple turns into pale yellow crisp shreds; and the onion softens into fine strips. Uniform shreds hold the glaze beautifully and cook evenly—8 minutes faster than grating, with no browning or bitterness.

2. Whisk the Maple Glaze: Smooth & Flavorful

Combine all glaze ingredients in the Geedel container. Attach the liquid whisk and blend for 20 seconds—until the maple syrup, olive oil, and soy sauce are fully incorporated, with no lumps. Brush generously over the chicken and shredded vegetables, allowing the flavors to penetrate deeply.

3. Roast to Golden Perfection: Aromatic & Tender  

Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the chicken skin-side up, surrounded by the shredded turnip, apple, and onion. Sprinkle with minced garlic and dried rosemary. Roast in a preheated oven at 190°C for 30 minutes, basting with pan juices every 10 minutes, until the chicken is golden and cooked through, and the vegetables are tender with lightly crisped edges.

4. Garnish with Fresh Rosemary: Festive & Fragrant
