Canadian Maple Sweet Potato & Yam Shredded Fritters

On a crisp Canadian morning, the Geedel Vegetable Processor creates golden fritters in 20 minutes—shredding sweet potatoes evenly, drying apple shreds to prevent sogginess, and whisking smooth maple dip. Served with hot cocoa, it’s a warm winter breakfast made effortlessly delicious.

Ingredients (Serves 2)  

1 sweet potato (peeled)  

100g yam (peeled)  

½ apple (peeled and cored)  

1 egg  

25g whole wheat flour  

¼ tsp baking powder  

2 tbsp maple syrup (1 for batter, 1 for sauce)  

⅛ tsp salt  

Maple Dipping Sauce:  

1 tbsp maple syrup  

2 tbsp Greek yogurt  

¼ tsp lemon juice  

Instructions  

1. Shred the Veggies & Apple: Uniform & Quick  

Cut the sweet potato, yam, and apple into 3cm chunks. Load them into the Geedel Vegetable Processor and rotate 4–5 times. The sweet potato turns into soft orange strands, the yam into sticky white shreds, and the apple into pale yellow crisp strips—evenly cut for easy binding with egg and flour, so the fritters hold their shape while frying.

2. Dry the Shreds: Crispy Outside, Tender Inside  

Place the apple and yam shreds into the Geedel Salad Spinner and spin for 10 seconds. Removing excess moisture ensures the fritters fry up crispy outside and tender inside—never mushy.

3. Mix & Pan-Fry: Sweet & Satisfying

In a bowl, combine the sweet potato, yam, and apple shreds with the egg, whole wheat flour, baking powder, 1 tbsp maple syrup, and salt. Mix into a moldable batter. Lightly oil a pan, scoop a spoonful of batter, and flatten into 8cm-wide patties. Pan-fry over medium-low heat for about 3 minutes per side, until golden. Makes 4 fritters.
