Canadian Maple Radish & Potato Shredded Fritters

On a snowy Ottawa morning, the Geedel Vegetable Chopper transforms humble root vegetables into golden maple fritters in just 25 minutes. Effortlessly shred radish and potato into uniform strips for perfect pan-frying, served with classic maple dip and hot cocoa—the ultimate warm winter breakfast..  

Ingredients (Serves 2)  

- ½ daikon radish (peeled)  

- 1 medium potato (peeled)  

- ¼ onion  

- 1 egg  

- 25g whole wheat flour  

- ¼ tsp salt  

- A pinch of black pepper  

Maple Dipping Sauce:  

- 2 tbsp maple syrup  

- 30g Greek yogurt  

- 1 tsp lemon juice  

Instructions  

1. Shred Radish & Potato: Crisp & Even

Cut the radish and potato into 3cm chunks. Place them in the Geedel Vegetable Chopper and rotate five times. The radish turns into creamy white shreds (firm and crisp when cooked), while the potato becomes pale yellow strands—its natural starch helps bind the fritters. Uniform shreds ensure even cooking: crispy outside, tender inside, with no undercooked bits. This method is 8 minutes faster than using a grater.

2. Dice the Onion: No Tears, Just Flavor  

Cut the onion into 2cm cubes and place in the Onion Dicer. Rotate three times for finely minced onion—completely tear-free. Lightly sauté to develop a sweet, mild base for the fritters. Even beginners can handle onions with ease.

3. Mix the Dipping Sauce: Smooth & Balanced  

Combine maple syrup, Greek yogurt, and lemon juice in the Manual Food Chopper. Attach the blending accessory and rotate for 20 seconds until the sauce is perfectly smooth—no lumps. Its tangy sweetness complements the savory fritters beautifully.

4. Pan-Fry the Fritters: Golden & Satisfying  

In a large bowl, combine radish and potato shreds, minced onion, egg, whole wheat flour, salt, and pepper. Mix into a moldable batter. Lightly oil a pan, scoop a spoonful of batter, and flatten into 8cm-wide patties. Pan-fry over medium-low heat for about 3 minutes per side until golden. Makes 4 fritters.
