A comforting classic Italian-inspired dish made with tender ground beef, rich tomato sauce, and perfectly cooked spaghetti. Ready in under 40 minutes!
🛒 Ingredients (4 servings)

Spaghetti – 400g (14 oz)

Ground beef – 500g (1 lb)

Olive oil – 2 tbsp

Onion – 1 medium, finely chopped

Garlic – 3 cloves, minced

Carrot – 1 small, finely diced (optional for sweetness)

Celery stick – 1, finely diced (optional)

Canned chopped tomatoes – 400g (14 oz)

Tomato paste – 2 tbsp

Beef stock – ½ cup (120ml)

Dried oregano – 1 tsp

Dried basil – 1 tsp (or fresh basil leaves for garnish)

Salt & pepper – to taste

Parmesan cheese – freshly grated, for serving

Cook the spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.

Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.

Prepare the Bolognese sauce

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Add onion, garlic, carrot, and celery. Sauté for 5 minutes until softened.

Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

Add the tomato base

Stir in canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef stock.

Add oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.

Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Combine pasta and sauce

Toss the cooked spaghetti with the Bolognese sauce.

Add a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen.
