European Street-Style Ham & Bell Pepper Panini

During the morning rush in Paris, you grab a freshly grilled panini from a street-side café. The kitchen staff works efficiently—red bell peppers are cut into 3cm chunks and transformed into glossy, thin strips with just 4 rotations in the shredder. Paired with savory ham and melted cheese, the pressed sandwich boasts a crispy exterior and a hearty, flavorful filling. It's more satisfying than a regular sandwich, mess-free to eat on the go, and a beloved European breakfast—now easily recreated at home with the Geedel vegetable chopper.  

Ingredients (Serves 2)

- 2 whole wheat panini rolls (sliced horizontally)  

- 6 slices of ham  

- ½ red bell pepper (deseeded)  

- ½ yellow bell pepper (deseeded)  

- 40g mozzarella cheese (sliced)  

- 1 tomato (thinly sliced)  

- 20g lettuce (torn into pieces)  

- 1 tbsp mayonnaise  

- tsp salt  

-A pinch of cracked black pepper  

Instructions 

1. Shred the Bell Peppers  

Cut the red and yellow bell peppers into 3cm chunks. Shred each separately in the Geedel vegetable chopper with 4 rotations to create vibrant, 0.2cm thin strips. The uniform shreds distribute evenly in the panini, retain a slight crunch after grilling, and enhance the visual appeal.  

2. Dry the Lettuce

Wash the lettuce and spin it dry in the salad spinner attachment of the food chopper for about 10 seconds. Removing excess moisture prevents the bread from becoming soggy, ensuring the lettuce stays crisp even after pressing and grilling.  

3. Prepare the Ham  

Stack the ham slices, cut into 3cm-wide strips, and gently pulse twice in the hand chopper to shorten the strips. This makes the ham easier to bite into and ensures even distribution with the peppers and cheese, delivering savory flavor in every bite.  

4. Assemble & Grill

Spread mayonnaise on the inner sides of the panini rolls. Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, ham strips, bell pepper shreds, and mozzarella. Close the rolls and grill in a panini press for about 5 minutes until the bread is crispy and the cheese has melted.  

Slice each panini in half, wrap in a paper bag, and enjoy on the go—just like a true European street breakfast.
