Korean Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings
Whether it's game day or family movie night, a plate of uniquely flavored chicken wings is always the most popular shareable snack. These wings blend American-style fried chicken with Asian sweet and spicy flavors. Using the Geedel food chopper allows you to quickly process ingredients like ginger and garlic, making complex sauce preparation simple and fast—adding an international twist to any gathering.
Ingredients:
For the Wings:
1 kg chicken wing sections (drumettes and flats)
1 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Sweet and Spicy Sauce:
¼ cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
¼ cup honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 piece ginger (about 3 cm)
4 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon raw sesame seeds
For Garnish:
2 green onions
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions:
1. Prepare sauce ingredients (using Geedel):
Peel and cut the ginger into chunks; peel the garlic cloves. Using the manual vegetable chopper with the dicing blade, place ginger chunks in the container and press lightly 4–5 times until finely minced. Repeat with the garlic. The precise blade system of this vegetable chopper handles pungent ingredients effectively while preserving their full flavor.

2. Make the sweet and spicy sauce:
In a small saucepan, combine gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Add the minced ginger and garlic. Heat over medium-low for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce slightly thickens. Remove from heat and stir in the raw sesame seeds.
3. Prepare the wings:
Pat the chicken wings completely dry. In a large bowl, mix cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Working in batches, toss the wings in the cornstarch mixture until evenly coated.
4. Fry the wings:
Heat about 8 cm of vegetable oil in a deep pot to 175°C. Fry the wings in batches for 10–12 minutes, until golden brown, crispy, and fully cooked inside. Drain on a wire rack lined with paper towels.
5. Toss and garnish:
Place the fried wings in a large bowl. Pour the warm sweet and spicy sauce over them and gently toss until each wing is evenly coated. Thinly slice the green onions and sprinkle them over the wings along with the toasted sesame seeds.
6. Serve:
Serve immediately with sides like coleslaw and blue cheese dip. The sweet and spicy sauce paired with the crispy wings creates a perfect contrast, making this snack the star of any party.
Summary:
These fusion-style wings benefit from the Geedel manual vegetable chopper, which quickly processes pungent ingredients, enriching the homemade sauce with deeper flavor layers. Manual operation simplifies what would typically be a complex Asian-style sauce, offering a creative twist on classic American party snacks.
