Middle Eastern Chicken Shawarma Wraps
The distinctive aroma of shawarma spices and lightly charred grilled chicken, wrapped in soft pita bread with fresh salads and sauces, is a globally popular street food. Recreating it at home relies on evenly coated marinade and crisp vegetables. Your Geedel hand food chopper instantly blends garlic and spices into a fine marinade paste and quickly prepares all the cold accompaniments.
Ingredients:
2 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into thin strips
2 large pita breads or wraps
For the Shawarma Marinade:
½ onion
4 garlic cloves
2 tablespoons olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Salt and pepper
For the Tzatziki Sauce:
½ cup Greek yogurt
¼ cucumber
1 garlic clove
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh mint or dill
Salt
For Toppings:
Shredded lettuce
Diced tomato
Thinly sliced red onion
Pickled turnips or radishes
Instructions:
1. Make the flavorful marinade paste:
Cut the onion and garlic into chunks. Using the Geedel manual food chopper with the chopping blade, process into fine pieces.
Add olive oil, lemon juice, and all the spices. Switch to the mixing paddle, close the lid tightly, and turn the handle until a smooth, thick marinade paste forms. Coat the chicken strips thoroughly and marinate for at least 2 hours.

2. Make the tzatziki sauce:
Peel and chop the cucumber. Using the chopping blade, quickly mince it, then transfer to the salad spinner basket to remove excess moisture.
Clean the container, then use the mixing paddle to combine Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, mint, and salt. Stir in the drained cucumber.
3. Cook the chicken and prepare toppings:
Spread the marinated chicken strips on a baking sheet. Roast in a preheated oven at 220°C for 15–20 minutes, or until cooked through and slightly charred at the edges.
Meanwhile, quickly prepare the shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and other toppings using the chopper attachments.
4. Assemble the wraps:
Warm the pita breads slightly. Spread tzatziki sauce in the center, then layer with lettuce, roasted shawarma chicken, tomato, onion, and other toppings.
Roll tightly and serve whole, or cut in half crosswise.
Summary:
This exotic wrap brings the joy of global street food to family meals. The Geedel food chopper not only efficiently prepares the core marinade and sauce but also, with its versatile blades and attachments, makes prepping large quantities of toppings effortless—allowing you to easily master this richly layered world cuisine.
