Maple Pecan Sweet Potato Mash
Transform ordinary sweet potato mash into a luxurious, holiday-worthy side dish. The natural sweetness of sweet potatoes pairs perfectly with maple syrup, while toasted pecan pieces add a delightful crunch and nutty aroma. Your Geedel food chopper quickly processes cooked sweet potatoes into an exceptionally smooth mash and easily chops the nuts, making the preparation of this side dish efficient and flawless
Ingredients:
800g sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
3 tbsp butter
¼ cup pure maple syrup
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Salt, to taste
½ cup pecans
Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
1. Make Smooth Sweet Potato Mash:
Cook or steam the sweet potato chunks until very tender. Drain well.
Place the hot sweet potato chunks into the container of your Geedel manual vegetable chopper (fitted with the chopping blade). Rotate the handle to break them down initially.
Remove the chopping blade and attach the mixing paddle. Add the butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt. Secure the lid and rotate the handle continuously until the mixture is creamy, smooth, and free of lumps.

2. Prepare the Pecan Pieces:
Empty the container and re-attach the chopping blade. Add the pecans and rotate the handle a few quick times to coarsely chop them.
3. Assemble:
Transfer the sweet potato mash to a serving bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create swirls on the surface. Sprinkle the chopped pecans and fresh thyme leaves over the top.
4. Serve:
Serve immediately while warm. Alternatively, for extra crispiness, you can place the assembled dish under a preheated broiler/grill for a minute or two just before serving to lightly toast the pecans.
Summary:
This side dish demonstrates how layering textures and flavors can elevate simple ingredients into something special. The Geedel vegetable chopper not only guarantees a perfectly smooth, lump-free mash but also quickly prepares the crispy nut topping, allowing your everyday sides to effortlessly achieve a sophisticated, celebration-worthy finish.
